The PGA Tour Champions season ends in Phoenix again. The 2026 Charles Schwab Cup Championship will be played November 12–15 at Phoenix Country Club, with Stewart Cink defending. What is at stake, what mid-November weather in Phoenix usually looks like, and what it means for golfers in the Valley.

The PGA Tour Champions season will end in Phoenix again this year. The 2026 Charles Schwab Cup Championship is scheduled for November 12–15, 2026, at Phoenix Country Club, according to the PGA Tour's official tournament page. It is the last event of the season for the tour's over-50 players, and the one that decides the season-long Charles Schwab Cup.

What Has Been Announced

  • Dates and venue: November 12–15, 2026, at Phoenix Country Club, just north of downtown Phoenix. The PGA Tour lists the course at par 71 and 6,860 yards.
  • Purse: $3 million.
  • Format: the tournament is the third and final event of the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs. The field is limited to 36 players, and there is no halfway cut, so everyone plays all four rounds.
  • Defending champion: Stewart Cink won in 2025 with rounds of 64, 68, 65 and 67 for a 20-under-par total of 264, two shots ahead of Steven Alker. The win also gave him the season-long Charles Schwab Cup, and he was later named the 2025 PGA Tour Champions Player of the Year.
  • The year before: Bernhard Langer won the 2024 edition at 18 under par, one shot ahead of Alker and Richard Green.

The 36 players will be set by the Schwab Cup standings after the first two playoff events, so the field will not be known until shortly before the tournament.

What Mid-November Weather Usually Looks Like

Mid-November is one of the most comfortable times of year for golf in Phoenix. The National Weather Service's 1991–2020 normals for Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, about five miles from the course, show:

  • an average high of about 77°F and an average low of about 54°F for November 12–15;
  • about 0.57 inches of rain across the whole month of November, so a dry tournament week is the most likely outcome.

The bigger change during the day is the temperature. A tournament round that starts on a mid-50s morning can finish in the upper 70s, and the air makes a small difference to how far the ball flies. Phoenix Country Club sits at about 1,100 feet. Our carry model estimates that a 7-iron that carries 150 yards at sea level on a 70°F day would carry about 150 yards on a typical mid-November morning at the course, and about 153 yards on a typical afternoon.

What It Means for Golfers

  • Overseeding is over: by mid-November, most Valley courses have reopened after their autumn overseeding closures, with fresh winter grass. See our article on Arizona's 2026 overseeding season for this year's dates.
  • Tee times: the Champions finale draws far smaller crowds than February's WM Phoenix Open, but mid-November is already high season in Phoenix, so book popular courses early.
  • Plan around the cool mornings: early tee times can start in the 50s. If you prefer to play in shirtsleeves, a mid-morning start is often the better choice.

For the best times to play the city's courses, see our guide to golf in Phoenix, and check the hour-by-hour forecast for any course on our Phoenix golf courses page. The tournament-week forecast for the host course will appear on the Phoenix Country Club page about a week ahead.
